More than 400 species of birds can be found in Illinois. Most are welcome visitors because of their beauty, song, entertaining behavior, and the valuable role that they play in the environment. Yet, they can become pests when they take up residence in homes or businesses, and when their behavior becomes a nuisance, or poses a health risk.
Birds nesting in attics, eaves, vents, porches, and buildings are not welcome guests. Not only can it be annoying, it can also be dangerous. Nests in structures can be a fire hazard and a source of mite and insect parasites that can affect people. And, while the direct transmission of disease from birds to humans is uncommon, life-threatening diseases, including histoplasmosis can be contracted from their droppings.
House Sparrows and European Starlings are among the two most common bird pests. These birds often invade homes and buildings to build their dirty, infested nests. Another common bird complaint is that of woodpeckers drilling holes in the wood of buildings. Birds may also find their way down chimneys and through vents, and even possibly into your home or business.
We offer services for the removal of birds and their nests, the clean-out of areas occupied by birds, and exclusion to prevent the problem from happening again. We also offer emergency services for birds that have found their way indoors. Please contact us for more information, and if you are unsure what type of animal is causing the problem, we will be able to tell you upon our thorough and expert inspection.
